Holiday Scammers, Phishing and Spam!

As the holiday season approaches, spammers are busy sending emails, and those who create viruses are also busy creating bad things that can harm computers and networks. The virus creators hook up with spammers and start sending emails out to people with the hope that they will open up the attachment or click on the link.

This is especially fruitful for spammers/virus creators around the holiday season as more and more people purchase items over the internet and set up email notifications to track deliveries. The current round of spam/virus emails take the form of either the USPS, Fedex, DHL, and UPS tracking notifications. Please do not open up the attachments or click on the links in these emails unless you know it is from a trusted source.   If you have ordered anything and expect a delivery, the place you have ordered it from will provide a tracking number on your invoice, or located in your account. You can go directly to the company’s website and enter that information and track packages from there rather than rely on email notification that could, perhaps, be not the email  you were expecting.
